Calling All Heritage Volunteers

NEW: Thank you to the City of Mandurah and the museum staff who helped to make this event such a success. Also to musician Glen Ridgwell who entertained us. View the photos. We had 47 attendees, most of whom are already volunteers, but some attended to find out more about volunteering and are ready to commence their volunteer journey with MEHG and/or the museum. Welcome to you all!

During National Volunteer Week we will be having a Special Celebratory Lunch for Heritage Volunteers on Wednesday 22nd May 2024 at Mandurah Museum.

  • 10.00am to 11.30am – Guided Heritage Tour of Mandurah (small group) by museum volunteer David Austin,
  • 11.30am to 2.00pm – Lunch and Celebrations,
  • Bookings Essential – Email info@mehg.org.au to book your free place at either or both of these.

As well as the guided tour and buffet lunch by Tree of Life, there will be tours of the museum, a Putt Putt Motor exhibition, entertainment by Glen and Les, speeches, awards, Q&A and a slideshow in the school room featuring a new video by the heritage volunteers.

Museum parking is available to those with limited mobility. Everyone else is asked to park nearby.

This is a free event courtesy of our funders and partners to:

  • Honour and acknowledge the MEHG volunteers, museum volunteers,  Mandurah Historical Society members and volunteers, and other heritage volunteers – past, present and future!
  • Recognise and thank everyone who contributed to the Australian Heritage Festival 18 April – 19 May.
  • Celebrate the rich and diverse stories of Mandurah, strengthen cultural and historical ties and forge new bonds.
  • Celebrate our link to people, places and the past, and the enduring connections that will shape the future of heritage in Mandurah.

Anyone wishing to volunteer in the heritage sector is welcome to attend. Note that Mandurah Museum is a Centrelink-approved voluntary work organisation.

Advance bookings are essential for catering purposes. Email info@mehg.org.au to book your place.

Please share on Facebook.

This event is supported by the City of Mandurah, Volunteering WA and Lotterywest.
Also thank you to Zachary Macintyre for our new heritage video, and Mandurah Murray Mayday Inc. for funding it.
