BIRD WATCHING OUTING
January location to be announced soon.
This group visits the beautiful waterways and bush areas in and around Mandurah to observe what species of birds are in the area. They record the species identified and report their findings to Birdlife Australia.
They have been bringing bird lovers together for over 30 years and normally have outings on the 4th Friday of each month.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about our wonderful bird life and how to identify birds.
There are over 120 species of birds in the Peel Region, and numbers increase during the migratory season.

NATIONAL SHOREBIRD COUNT
The annual shorebird count in the Peel-Yalgorup System is part of the National Shorebird Monitoring Program, a national citizen science initiative that seeks a better understanding of nation’s shorebird population and the threats they face. The annual count spans the 26,000 hectares of the Peel-Yalgorup system (Ramsar Site 482).
Facilitated by Peel-Harvey Catchment Council in consultation with Birdlife WA and local birdwatchers, the annual count helps with conservation efforts, providing an understanding of the factors that affect declining populations.
👉 Skilled volunteers are needed to count the shorebirds in the wetlands. Preference will be given to those that have completed a two-day bird ID workshop or have participated before.
