The Friends of Samphire Cove Celebrate 10 Years

In 2012 a small group of people led by Barry Small were so moved by the poor state of this reserve in Halls Head that they pulled together to transform it into the beautiful A Class nature reserve that it is today.

This dedicated team of volunteers have been maintaining the cove at least monthly for the last ten years, and they celebrated their efforts on 27 March 2022 with a free guided walk and nature tour by Pippa Gauden followed by brunch courtesy of Parks & Wildlife.

In attendance were Mandurah Mayor Rhys Williams, Deputy Mayor and PHCC Chair Caroline Knight, Councillor Amber Kearns and Lisa Munday MLA, Member for Dawesville. Other distinguished guests included Amanda Knight (Labor candidate for Canning), representatives from MEHG and other environmental groups and, of course, the celebrated Friends of Samphire Cove Nature Reserve.
